Elon Musk made an arm gesture reminiscent of a Nazi salute while speaking at an inauguration event for President Trump. Of course, social media lit up with a flurry of posts opining on the gesture and what it means. The arm movement was to clasp his hand over his heart and then thrust the arm out in front of him – that part certainly looking like the notorious Nazi move. It is the grabbing his heart and throwing it out of his chest, out to his listeners, where the motion becomes something else than the fascist greeting. Actually, it means something good (I hope!).
President Trump signed ten executive orders as part of the show at the Capitol One Arena rally to the cheers of thousands in attendance. Free the J6 prisoners – done. Start the deportations – done. Rename Denali to McKinley – done! It was pure Hollywood and people loved it. Then he started throwing the remaining, unused, pens out into the crowd just like a t-shirt canon at a basketball game. Trump truly has the pulse of the nation.
Keeping the annual tradition of a dry January, I am going to refrain from acquiring a new bottle of bourbon whiskey to savor.
President-elect Trump announced at a news conference that he was going to acquire Greenland and the Panama canal. When asked if he would go as far as using military force to coerce the acquisition, he said if necessary – all my paraphrasing. Why does Trump have to bully our allies into doing something he wants? It’s a good way to lose friends and make enemies. Plus it gives Putin and Xi cover to do their own acquisitions: Ukraine and Taiwan. Trump needs to think through his ideas before announcing them.
