THADD

I heard on the radio an interesting piece about the US giving the Israelis the American Thadd system as a means to stop the IDF from bombing Iran; especially bombing Iranian nuclear enrichment facilities. Supposedly, this is akin to WW3. It reminds me of bribing a child with a treat to get them to behave – I guess to avoid World War 3, it’s worth it. There are other ways of dealing with children even if not your own: Spare the rod, spoil the child, comes to mind. We all feel terrible over the holocaust; our lack of action is pathetic because we had clues that the genocide was occurring. But still taking the Jewish side because of something 80 years ago is wrong too. We need, the world needs a solution to this age-old argument. Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran need to stop fighting, free the hostages, and rescue the Palestinians. Israel needs to stop fighting, receive the hostages, and welcome the Palestinians.

Election

I think the entire US is on edge over the upcoming presidential election. It is obvious that Trump will contest the results if he doesn’t win. The democrats should do the same but they’re too polite to question our system of voting - knowing how foolproof it is. The Democrats play fair whereas the Republicans play dirty. It’s not for patriotism nor for the good of the county; instead, it is solely for power. The right wants to return the country to the 1950’s or maybe the 1850’s. Rather making America great again, it is go back to the past again.

Debate

The VP candidates held their debate last night and surprisingly, played nice. The news the next day didn’t give JD Vance enough credit for the niceness because they showed Tim Walz speaking, agreeing with Vance on an issue, when really it was Vance who set the tone of the debate. I can see why the right doesn’t trust the left media because it skewed the perception towards Walz for being courteous. At the start of the debate, it was obvious that Mr. Walz was very nervous and Mr. Vance seemed in control. As the 90 minutes progressed, Mr. Walz recovered and may have won the debate with his question to Mr. Vance on winning the election who for the first time, ignored the question and fired back with one of his own. I give a slight edge to Mr. Vance.

Immigration

I am still waiting to hear how Ms. Harris will fix the southern border, I didn’t hear anything new in the VP debate. May I suggest the following approach. 1. Acknowledge the importance of immigrants to the founding of the country and the strength of our diverse society. 2. Acknowledge that the border states are unable to handle: feed and care for the number of immigrants we have had in the recent past. 3. Acknowledge that we have eleven million undocumented people already in this country who are eager to work and contribute. Welcome them. 4. Declare that whoever wins will work with all sides to create a solution to the problem. In the interim, the border is closed to any new immigrants. Period.
