The attempt on former President Trump’s life was a shock to witness and hear about. It’s not how to decide politics in our nation; do that at the ballot box. It appears that the young man who shot at Trump looked at images of both candidates which makes me think the attempt was only to gain notoriety and not a political statement. I notice that no one is talking about banning guns with this incident. The perpetrator used his father’s rifle – which by the way should have been locked at minimum. Heads will roll in the family and in the Secret Service.
From Wikipedia: Bottled in bond (BIB) is a label for an American-produced distilled beverage that has been aged and bottled according to a set of legal regulations contained in the United States government's Standards of Identity for Distilled Spirits,[1] as originally specified in the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. [2][3] As a reaction to widespread adulteration of American whiskey, the act made the federal government the guarantor of a spirit's authenticity, gave producers a tax incentive for participating and helped ensure proper accounting and the collection of tax that was due. Although the regulations apply to all spirits, most bonded spirits are whiskeys in practice.
To be labeled as bottled-in-bond or bonded, the liquor must be the product of one distillation season (January–June or July–December) by one distiller at one distillery. It must have been aged in a federally bonded warehouse under U.S. government supervision for at least four years and bottled at 100 (U.S.) proof (50% alcohol by volume). The bottled product's label must identify the distillery where it was distilled and, if different, where it was bottled.
The Supreme Court recently ruled along partisan lines that the President has immunity in his official acts and no immunity in his unofficial acts. What are they thinking? President Biden should order the arrest and incarceration of Donald Trump to test the soundness of their reasoning. The impeachment process is used to challenge official acts and the criminal system is used to challenge unofficial ones. We really don’t need the Justices to meddle in how things have worked for over 250 years. They are making a mess of it!
The United Kingdom just had an election that brought back to power the Labour Party after 14 years of being the backbench. Labour is usually thought of as leaning left although their Prime Minister has somehow brought them to the center. France had a snap election which kept the Left as President (Macron) but brought to power the far right (Marie Le-Pen and her cohorts). Italy has a far-right Prime Minister, recently elected. Iran has elected a reformist president although without much authority. Where will we be?
